Some bad news

Hey everyone - New Years Eve and nowhere to go...

Apparently the government has seen fit to block our ability to play on the beach. Last year, as Henry told me, it was a great struggle to get them to allow us to play anywhere. So we won't be playing on the beach this year, although it sounded like we were getting close last night. While we were preparing for the youth service, Henry told us that we needed a band name, as producers of the beach show nearest our hotel heard there was an American band from PA in the area, and they were interested in us coming to play - apparently unaware of our purpose for being here. From everything I've heard today however, it sounds as though that has also fallen through.

We're about to eat dinner as the hotel is holding a NYE buffet for the guests at a cost of about $18 US. After that we are supposed to be going to another local church to hold worship for NYE at around 10PM local time.

On a side note. The cross dressing crazies have already taken to the streets as of about 3pm local. A couple of the guys and I went to get a light lunch at a local grocery and were nearly run down by a rabid mob of drunk trannies. If that's already happening at 3, I can only imagine what it must be like on the beach at midnight!

I'm working on getting more pictures posted as well as the video from the 2 previous worship services at the other church.

The last couple days have also revealed some spiritual wounds I was unaware that I had. The group has been an amazing support as they have been laid open so God could meet me in that place. I am once again even more thankful for this opportunity to serve in such a capacity.

God bless and keep you all my friends and family - I miss you all terribly and look forward to seeing you again soon!

I am so sorry to hear about your NYE concert. I know how much you were looking forward to playing on the beach. But regardless,it sounds like God is hard at work in Brazil.

Do you have any idea what the rest of the week holds for you and the gang?

My mom wants to know if you have met some people by the name of Claudio and Anna. The are missionaries friends of my parents. I tried to explain to her that Rio is a big place and that we are all not related but she insisted i ask you.

I am going to church with my parents tonight. So will both ring in the new year praising our creator. Pretty cool.

talk to you later,
love,

iris

Oh sorry, I forgot to mention that Claudio and Anna run an orphanage. That might help you narrow it down;D

Hey Kevin!
Happy New Year! It sounds like the trip is everything and more than you'd hoped it would be.... except for playing on the beach...
I hope it gets even better.
Talk to you later,
J

P.S. Tell Phil and Rochelle that we said 'hi'.

What a bummer that you don't get to do the concert on the beach! I know how much you were looking forward to that. Guess Satan heard about it and feared how many people you would reach but I have faith that God already knew about that and is even now opening another door that he needs you to go through. So still have a Happy New Year. Bless You and stay safe. I'll catch you tomorrow.

It's cool cause God did so much where we ended up.

Tell your mom that there are so many churches and orphanages here. There's about 2-3 churches on almost every block in some areas. Some are small, others are huge.

We're pretty much letting God guide us on this trip. That is to say that no, we have no idea what we are doing the next day. With exception to scheduled events like going to Volta Redonda tomorrow, or the island 2 days later, we don't have an actual schedule.

Glad to hear you're hanging with them.

Jason - will do. I'm sure they'll say 'hi' back, so in advance "HI". Thanks man, so far this trip has been more than I could have imagined.

Deb - It's all good. The devil has his agenda, but God saw a need we could fill elsewhere and sent us on our way.

God bless!

Iris, te amo mi hermosa - I miss you!
